TNO is the Dutch Applied Scientific Research Organisation, where I had the privilege of working. A vibrant community group within the organisation is the TNO cycling group, full of colleagues who share a passion for the sport.
After TNO's brand was recently updated, I proactively reached out to the cycling group's organisers to propose a new kit design. I was delighted when I was given the opportunity to lead the project. This was a collaborative effort involving the cycling group, the marketing team, the kit manufacturer (36 Cycling), and others.
Together, we developed and finalised a design that successfully adhered to the new brand guidelines and house style. I also took the initiative to propose using the TNO logo without the payoff, a design variant typically reserved for building signage, which created a more balanced and symmetrical look. The final design incorporated TNO’s main colours – reflex blue and orange – along with a subtle dot pattern from the official branding.
Ultimately, we prioritised a clean, simple look over more intricate patterns to ensure the design was both stylish and brand-compliant. This was a great experience that showcased my ability to work closely with various stakeholders and deliver a professional, polished result.
